Collective Supported Agriculture

Our Collective Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a subscription that allows members to receive weekly shares of fresh, local produce grown by Urban Growers Collective and our partners. Shares are stocked with vegetables and culinary herbs from UGC, fruit from Seedling Farm, micro greens from Urban Eden, and occasionally supplemented with vegetables grown by our Incubator Farmers. As a member of our CSA, you are helping us build a more equitable local food system that directly supports BIPOC farmers and ranchers.

The best part of a CSA is that you’ll receive a wide variety of produce throughout the season. This means the contents of your share will change from week to week, and the produce will always be perfectly fresh and ripe. Some of the fruits and vegetables in your share might be new to you, and that’s great! We love to grow and to eat fun and exciting produce.

FAQ

Can I swap out produce in my shares?

Members with food allergies should notify us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to remove those items from your shares and swap in another comparable item whenever possible (vegetable for vegetable, herb for herb.) For seasonal fruits, another vegetable may be added instead. Please keep in mind that all shares are packed together, and we cannot provide a 100% allergen-free environment.

Member preferences not associated with allergies cannot be accommodated. The best part of a CSA is that the contents of your shares will change from week to week, and you will receive a wide variety of items throughout the season. We encourage you to try out a new food, get creative in the kitchen, or donate any produce you don’t want to a friend or Love Fridge location.

Is the produce organic?

All of our crops are grown in compost that is either produced from food waste on our farm or purchased from a mushroom composter outside of the city. We are not certified organic, but we adhere to strict organic standards that protect both people and planet. We believe in taking good care of the communities we grow for, the land we grow on, and our native pollinator populations.

What if I can't make my pick up window?

Ask a friend or family member if they can pick it up for you! If that’s not possible, you can let us know you’d like us to donate it. It will be redistributed as a mutual aid share to a community member in need, dropped off at a Love Fridge location, or donated to another community partner.

Any shares that are not picked up by the end of the pick up window will be donated, composted, or otherwise discarded. We require at least one week’s notice to change your pick up location. Members will not be refunded for any shares that are not picked up.

Can I change my pick up location?

Absolutely. Please email us at info@urbangrowerscollective.org at least ONE WEEK before your next pick up date. We will not be able to accommodate last minute requests.

How do I cancel my membership?

If you need to cancel your membership (due to moving out of state, financial hardship, etc.), you can transfer your share over to a friend, or we can reach out to folks on our waitlist to take over the remainder of your share. You will be refunded for any remaining shares minus a $50 Admin Fee.

How do I request a refund?

We do not guarantee refunds for customer complaints and will handle all refund requests on a case-by-case basis. We will review the situation and offer an accommodation or refund that we deem fair for the situation. Please email us at info@urbangrowerscollective.org.
