Drop-in Shifts

We offer one-time volunteer shifts at our South Chicago and Roosevelt Square farms. Shifts are typically 2-3 hours long. Volunteers help with a variety of tasks, including prepping beds, weeding, seeding, and harvesting. All ages are welcome!

Fresh Moves

The Fresh Moves Mobile Market is a mobile farmers’ market that travels around Chicago’s South and West sides year round to provide folks with fresh, healthy produce.

Volunteers who help out at the Fresh Moves Mobile Market greet customers and collect data before they shop on the bus.

Recurring Shifts

If you would like to consistently support our work, sign up for a recurring volunteer shift! This is a month-long commitment that allows you to volunteer at the same farm at the same time each week. We ask that you commit to working all shifts for the month.

Group Shifts

We occasionally offer group volunteer days for businesses or organizations who are interested in supporting our work.

We will not have any more group opportunities available during the 2021 season. If your group is interested in volunteering with Urban Growers Collective in the future, please send us an email!

Herb Walks

Typically held the last Friday of each month during the growing season (May through October), these learning opportunities are for herbalists of all levels – from beginners to experts. We come together on our South Chicago Farm to share our knowledge and build community as herbalists.

We offer apprenticeships focused on a variety of content areas, including beekeeping, harvesting, and hoop house maintenance. Through consistent, hands-on experience, apprentices deepen their knowledge in a specific content area. These opportunities are for folks who have taken related workshops through Urban Growers Collective and are looking for more skill-based experiences.
