Seasonal Farm Worker

The Farm Worker position encompasses all aspects of farm labor.  We are looking for a dynamic individual who has experience with sustainable production farming and is self-motivated, detail-oriented, maintains a positive attitude, has strong communication skills, the ability to receive constructive criticism, timely, and maintains a strong work ethic.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build-out and maintenance of farm sites including seeding, planting, and tending and irrigating crops;
  • Harvesting and post-harvest handling and record keeping of crops for sale and distribution;
  • Pest management including hand-picking, maintaining row cover, and spraying of organic pesticides; 
  • Compost management and record keeping of crops and produce;
  • Construction of hoop-houses and additional infrastructure on farm sites;
  • Assisting with sales, load-in and out of produce at farmers’ markets and for the Fresh Moves Mobile Market — must be able to lift 75 pounds;
  • Daily reporting to supervisor with weekly progress reports submitted;
  • Daily use and safe-handling of farm equipment including tilers, wheelbarrows, tools and hand-tools;
  • Willingness to work and preparation for working outdoors in all weather conditions; and
  • Transportation of supplies to farm locations, experience driving small box trucks or large passenger vans preferred.

Human Resources Manager

This role will be the first of its kind at UGC. As a growing entrepreneurial organization, UGC needs someone to own and execute our HR function. The person who will succeed in this role is an energetic self-starter, comfortable wearing many hats. This generalist will be responsible for recruiting, employee benefits, compensation, compliance, performance management, and other HR responsibilities. The HR Manager will have no direct reports but will join a collaborative and passionate team dedicated to our mission.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and update employee information in the HRIS system, and maintain personnel files
  • Lead recruiting and interviewing processes; post to and update job boards, track progress within HRIS, schedule interviews, consolidate feedback, make offers
  • Manage new hire background and pre-employment screenings (background checks, state regulation compliance)
  • Facilitate onboarding of new staff
  • Maintain employee, risk management, safety, and benefits records
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Lead communication, training, and ongoing talent initiatives as part of the performance management process
  • Provide insight and information regarding various HR-related questions and concerns to all levels of staff
  • Communicate benefit offerings to employees
  • Implement, monitor and report on Annual Enrollment processes
  • Administer compensation program(s), such as increases and bonuses
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law 
  • Conduct off-boarding tasks, including exit interviews 
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Assist with performance reviews as needed
  • Support and contribute to regularly scheduled meetings and team-building activities
  • Coordinate and communicate organization-wide events
  • Monitor the completion of required employee training
  • Reconcile timesheets and track PTO

Green Era Project Manager


We are looking for a dynamic individual who can coordinate work associated with the planning, development and construction of the Green Era Campus ( The project manager reports to the CEO of Urban Growers Collective and will collaborate closely with project partners, workforce partners and the Urban Growers Collective team, particularly on program elements at the campus. This position is a key member of the project planning, design and development team. This person will take an active role in managing the project overall as well as the process and relationships that are involved in the planning, design and development of the Green Era Campus including program managers, contractors, consultants and other entities. This is a one-year contract position beginning August 15, 2021.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with project partners, workforce partners and the Urban Growers Collective team.
  • Coordinate closely with all project partners to ensure that the design of the facility meets the needs of all partners.
  • Support vetting process for consultants and projects partners.
  • Manage the request for proposals process for the General Contractor for the Campus.
  • Identify plans and processes to shift programs and operations from current locations to the Green Era Campus, in coordination with project partners.
  • Coordinate with the development/fundraising team (including staff and consultants) and communications team to support internal and external information sharing.
  • During the design phase, coordinate services of architects, engineers and other professionals.
  • During the construction phase, coordinate all aspects of construction management to ensure that project goals and milestones are being met.
  • Solicit bids from and secure various professionals and vendors for work on projects.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on bids.
  • Negotiate terms of work and approve hiring of vendors.
  • Oversee securing permits for construction projects including meeting with government officials and addressing problems that arise to ensure permit is secured according to schedule.
  • Assist with the negotiation of construction contracts and architectural contracts for construction projects.
  • Review architectural plans, construction drawings and performance specifications for accuracy; identify areas for costs savings and work with architects to produce plans that meet UGC’s budget.
  • Manage relationships with contractor and architect during construction, attend construction meetings, review and keep track of shop drawing submittals, review and approve change orders, and work toward resolving construction-related disputes that arise.
  • Manage and track all construction-related accounting (including construction escrows) to ensure that project stays within budget.
  • Assess the status of projects against their plan and schedule, identify actual or potential problems, and facilitate solutions to ensure that the projects are completed as planned.
  • Keep CEO of Urban Growers Collective and other project leaders apprised of progress through regular updates or meetings and including them on important correspondence related to the project.
