Workshops & Events

Register for our 2025 Workshops!

This growing season,  we will offer a monthly series of workshops at our South Chicago Farm to support the development of local aspiring growers. Our public workshop costs $100; we will offer opportunities for a reduced cost of $25 in exchange for 3 workshare hours at our South Chicago site. These workshare hours must be completed a week in advance of the workshop.

  • Spring (April/May/June) will feature workshops such as bed-building, seeding & transplanting, irrigation, and crop planning all to support growers in starting their gardens.

  • Summer (July/August/September) will feature workshops such as seeding & transplanting, seasonal harvest, and specialty workshops to support growers with expansion.

  • Fall (October/November) will feature workshops such as seeding & transplanting, seasonal harvest, winterizing your farm, and specialty workshops to support growers with closing out the growing season and preparing for the next one.

Herbalism Workshops

South Chicago Farm, 9001 S Mackinaw, Ave

Led by UGC staff and Herbalism Apprentices in conjunction with Kim Crutcher, herbalism conductor at UGC, our gatherings in the South Chicago herb garden are offered as a space for learning to identify and work with both wild and cultivated plants. In community exchange, we will share knowledge, stories, and folklore about growing and working with herbs.

Farming Workshops
